The BLYC Race Team is our Club's Youth Sailing Racing Team. We sail Optimists, Lasers (Full Rig & Radial), CFJ's, C-420's, and Thistles. Each year we participate in the I-LYA Junior Travelers Series and our teenaged sailors participate in I-LYA's annual "Junior Bay Week" Regatta at Put-in-Bay.
The BLYC Race Team has a strong, rich history of success in sailing. Our sailors have consistently performed well at Junior Bay Week from the 1950's to the present day.

BLYC Junior Sailors have also represented us well beyond Junior Bay. Two of our alumni (Matt Fisher & Mike Hein) have won the Lightning Junior North Americans and, in 1977, the BLYC team of Will Petersilge, Dan Dressel, and Dan Roshon won at Junior Bay, won the Wakefield Trophy (Area E Semifinals) and went on to win the coveted Sears Cup - The USYRU Junior Triplehanded Championship - the first inland lake to do so! Matt Fisher went on to represent the United States in the 1991 Pan Am games and skippered the gold medal winning boat. Mike Hein went on to crew on America3 which won the America's Cup in 1992. In 2010, Matt Fisher won the Lightning World Championship.
